Top Five Saves - #4 Ratatouille's Recreation
Your donations to Friends of PACC purchased a doggie treadmill so that energetic dogs like Ratatouille have another way to stimulate their minds and bodies while waiting for their new home.
Ratatouille just couldn’t stay put and so he found himself at Pima Animal Care Center multiple times as a stray. His last visit had him spending three months waiting for a new home, but that’s ok because PACC is one of the few shelters in our area that doesn’t euthanize for length-of-stay or space.
Like most pets, he wasn’t always happy about staying in a kennel, but at PACC he received loving care from staff, volunteers, and special enrichment made possible by donors like you! Check out his video below to see him on the treadmill and meeting his new dad!
Exercise has tremendous benefits both physically and mentally for pets, just like it does for people. The treadmill is just one of many ways your gifts support life-saving supplies and programming at the shelter. A full time Playgroup Specialist is funded by your donations and makes sure that as many dogs as possible get anywhere from fifteen minutes to two hours in a multi-dog playgroup every day.
Playgroup is total fun for the dogs (those that don’t like it get one-to-one time of course!) and observing how the dogs interact with each other and staff gives important clues to each dog’s personality. And the more that shelter staff knows about a pet’s personality traits, the easier it is to find them a great home just for them.
A team of dedicated PACC volunteers ensures that the dogs at the shelter get walked twice a day, every day, and your donations bolster that programming as well through outreach and supplies.
Every gift you make to Friends of PACC benefits a local pet or family in need. Thank you for making these compassionate programs possible at our municipal shelter.
