This Giving Tuesday, Give 92%!

This Giving Tuesday we hope you’ll join us in celebrating all that we’ve worked together to accomplish at Pima Animal Care Center by making a special gift in honor of their current save rate.

Celebrate this historic win for pets in Pima County by giving $9.20 per month, $92.00, or $920 to care for the next 100% of pets who need sheltering at PACC.

Why 92%? Because of our…

A “save rate,” is the percentage of pets that leave the shelter with a positive outcome. At 92%, that means that 9.2 of every 10 pets that enter the shelter are adopted or transferred to another organization for eventual adoption.

Meet Some Of The 92%

It’s hard to wrap one’s head around what 18,400 homeless pets looks, sounds or smells like even if you’re one of the volunteers, fosters, or staff members on the front lines of saving Pima County’s pets. That’s why we want you to meet a few of the special pets that your donations have helped save!

Flicker and Timmy (formerly Buzby Brambles) were both saved by the Pima Animal Care Center clinic thanks to donations made to Friends of PACC. While these two cuties came into the shelter separately, they both had fractures that required orthopedic surgery and specialty care. We weren’t sure that either of them would walk again but thanks to the surgery skills of PACC’s Dr. Wayt, who received orthopedic training through Friends of PACC funding, they are both totally healed and doing great. Timmy is the smallest pet that PACC has ever done an orthopedic surgery on. They were adopted together and are the best of friends!

Shadow was saved by a PACC Animal Protection Officer who found him with severe, infected wounds on his head and ears. After almost two months in the clinic, PACC vets were able to heal his wounds. Looking at him today you wouldn’t even know that he’s been through so much. Donations support the critical supplies, training, and vet/vet tech staffing that ensures pets like Shadow get everything they need to have a fighting chance.

Fleur was found abandoned in a wash and unable to walk. X-rays at the PACC clinic revealed a bullet in her spine. While she isn’t in any pain, she does not have the use of her back legs and surgery is not a viable option. Thanks to donations made to Friends of PACC, Fleur was able to get all the care she needed, including a specialist consult, physical and swim therapies, and a wheelchair of her own. Now she’s the happiest pup on two wheels!

Balboa and San Luis came from the home of an overwhelmed caregiver with many other cats. Lots of their siblings had upper respiratory issues and conjunctivitis. Thanks to donations made to Friends of PACC, these cuties and their friends all received the individualized care they needed to thrive. Senior cats and cats with medical issues are common in these types of cases and we’re here to make sure that these special cats have the chance at happy, loving homes.

Help the Next 100%

Your gift on Giving Tuesday will ensure that 100% of the more than 18,400 pets needing care at PACC every year have the best possible chance of finding new homes.
